2022 Virtual Alaska Food Festival & Conference

Registration is open for the 2022 Virtual Alaska Food Festival and Conference. This year’s theme is “Everybody Eats: Nourishing Our Culture, Our Health, Our Future.” It opens with a pre-conference movie on Thursday, March 17, and the full conference runs Friday and Saturday, March 18-19.

Anchorage campus closed Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022

Due to slick and dangerous weather conditions on campus, and out of an abundance of caution, UAA will be closed today, Feb. 22, 2022. All on-campus events and activities are canceled. All classes — online and in-person — are canceled. Employees should work remotely, as they are able, and communicate with their supervisors to make appropriate arrangements.

ISER Spring Seminar schedule

The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) is hosting a series of seminars for the UAA community. ISER faculty, staff and guests will present on varied topics, from research on the PFD to misinformation on Facebook. Seminars are Tuesdays over the lunch hour.

On-campus food pantry accepting donations

The Seawolf Food Pantry is asking for donations from the UAA community to assist in stocking the shelves before it opens to help students who experience food insecurity.

Equity at Work and in the World - two virtual workshops

Starting with the foundational agreement that systemic bias is an everyone, every day, institutionalized problem, this workshop will explore what it means as individuals to contribute to a solution — day to day, minute by minute, situation by situation.

Help slow the spread of COVID-19 with your smartphone

We invite you to use a new smartphone tool called Exposure Notification Express (ENX). ENX will improve the ability to slow community spread of COVID-19 by empowering Alaskans to act quickly if they come into contact with an individual who later tests positive for the virus. The system will be available on iOS Tuesday, Jan. 11, and on Android Jan. 18. To opt in, turn on Exposure Notifications in your iPhone settings or download the Alaska COVID ENX app in the Google Play store. The tool is completely voluntary and anyone in Alaska can use it.
