UAA Music programs foster excellence in the preparation of music students for graduate school, teacher training or other careers in music. Music faculty and programs also serve as an important community resource in the training of pre-college talent. The Department seeks to serve the lifelong learning component of the university mission by offering the Alaskan community access to opportunities for continuing education.

    Ambitious Symposium

    The sound of guitars will occupy the Fine Arts Building at the University of Alaska Anchorage this week. From Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 guitar teachers, students, professional players, novices and members of the public who can't tell a capo from a C string have the chance to attend free and ticketed concerts, go to workshops and lectures and sit in on master classes.     Mic Check: Jonathan Cannamore

     With a mix of indie, alternative, acoustic and folk, homegrown artist Jonathan Cannamore hopes to make it big one day. A recent UAA graduate, Cannamore is working on his second album while earning his Master's Degree in education. (Read More)
