Biography

Baritone David Dunlap is a performer and voice teacher hailing from the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Highlights of his opera roles include Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte, Dr. Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, Betto in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Page in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Papageno in scenes from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. Equally at home in musical theater, favorite roles include Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Curly in Oklahoma!, Motel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Johnny Casino in Grease. Mr. Dunlap has also served as the music director for stage productions of Into the Woods, Jr. and the broadway version of Anastasia. Mr. Dunlap’s students have won numerous awards at the high school, college, and advanced artist levels. Students have gone on to earn lead roles in musicals, as well as positions with professional opera companies. David is an adjunct instructor of voice at UAA and director of secondary choirs at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.
