Residential Community Safety
Residence Life Value Statement: Safe Environment
The Department of Residence Life seeks to ensure a safe environment through secure facilities that contribute to the well-being of residents. This includes providing an on-call system that ensures constant service to residents in crisis, and provides resources for future care--providing comprehensive outreach and care to residents in need, and collaborating with University Police to create the safest environment possible.
Residence Life is proud to offer a variety of features aimed at keeping the UAA residential campus as safe as possible, but it is only through the efforts of our entire community that our goal of creating a safe environment can be achieved. First, residents must be familiar with and abide by the Community Living Standards, the UAA Student Code of Conduct, Regents’ Policies & University Regulations, and all applicable municipal, state, and federal laws. Many of these policies and laws focus on safety and exist for a reason. If you have any questions regarding our policies, please don’t hesitate to ask a staff member.
For the past several years, residents have overwhelmingly reported (95%+) to Residence Life that they felt safe and their items were secure while living on campus. This information was gathered from the department’s Quality of Life Survey that is administered at least once per year by Residence Life. Crime statistics for the entire UAA campus are published in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report on an annual basis as required by the Clery Act.
