UAA's residential community provides a variety of employment opportunities for students looking for campus jobs.

Resident Advisor (RA)

The RA position places student leaders in the heart of the residential experience. RAs are energetic leaders charged with building a strong, safe, engaging, and comfortable community on the residential campus. RAs serve as a referral contact for students in need of personal or academic assistance. They produce dozens of educational, social, diversity, and community service programs, as well as informational bulletin boards throughout the semester. RAs serve as role models and mentors to residents and explain, confront and report violations of the Student Code of Conduct and University regulations, and provide support for any resident mental health crises or emergency situations that may arise. RAs serve as Campus Safety Authorities.

Peer Academic & Wellness (PAW) Leader

The PAW Leader position is a wonderful student leadership position that combines event planning with community building in an exciting and challenging residential setting. PAW Leaders provide community-wide activities focused in the following areas: academics, alcohol & drug awareness, and diversity & inclusion. PAW Leaders are also responsible for creating monthly social activities for residents to enjoy, in addition to themed-month celebration programming (i.e. Black History Month, Alaska Native/American Indian Heritage Month, etc.). PAW Leaders serve as Campus Safety Authorities.

Indigenous & Rural (IR) Leader

The IR Leader position is a unique and incredible opportunity to support and mentor UAA students who identify as Alaska Native, Indigenous, Native American, and/or rural Alaskan. IR Leaders create a welcoming environment in the Cama-i Room and residence halls and host activities that are social, educational, and celebrate the various cultures of Alaska. They are responsible for providing Alaska-themed programs in their assigned hall and for providing additional outreach to rural students living in their community. IR Leaders serve as Campus Safety Authorities.

Cama-i Room Host (CRH)

The CRH position also supports and mentors UAA students who identify as Alaska Native, Indigenous, Native American, and/or rural Alaskan. CRHs are student leaders who create a welcoming environment in the Cama-i Room for the UAA and Anchorage communities. CRHs host activities that are social, educational, and celebrate the various cultures of Alaska. CRHs work during the weekends and the late evening hours of the week to support students in the Cama-i Room. CRHs also play a vital role in keeping the Cama-i Room and the Gorsuch Commons safe and comfortable spaces for their guests by enforcing policy and managing incidents that may while working in the Cama-i Room. Cama-i Room Hosts serve as Campus Safety Authorities.

Residence Life Marketing, Administrative & Programming Assistant (MAP)

The MAP positions assist in providing administrative support to Residence Life and the staff of the residential community, in addition to programs within the Department of Residence Life. MAPs work with a team of fellow office assistants to provide support to the professional and student staff who serve residential students in the areas of marketing, graphic design, social media, program support, and administrative tasks. Marketing, Administrative & Programming Assistants serve as Campus Safety Authorities.

Resident Services Assistant (RSA)

Resident Services Asistants staff the Information Desk in the Gorsuch Commons and assist in answering phones, entering work orders, distributing and processing mail and providing customer service to students and guests visiting the Commons.

Maintenance and Custodial Assistants

Maintenance Assistants and Custodial Assistants work with the Housing Facilities & Finance professional maintenance and cleaning staff to respond to work orders, provide cleaning and work on repairs and facilities projects in the residential community.
